A Review Of The ZTE Grand X Pro

ZTE can deliver an impressive array of smartphones that can fit easily to any budget. The ZTE Grand X pro is a bit different however as it is considered a higher-end device.

The design

There is nothing really wrong with the design of the ZTE Grand X pro, but it does look a bit uninspired, accents like the large rectangular speaker and the camera ring add distinctiveness to the handset yet the ZTE Grand X pro is unlikely to turn too many heads on the street.

Honestly, I like the design of this phone, in terms of built quality I can say that this phone is not quite as top-notch as the higher-end Samsung models, but overall the design is not bad.

The glass bezels look a bit conservative and the plastic-meal imitation around the profile add a bit of personality, the only hardware buttons are the power button on the top and the volume rocker on the right.

Both of these buttons feel very solid and are quite easy to use even while wearing gloves, overall the phone is quite ergonomic and feels great in the hand.

Display & Multimedia

The ZTE Grand X pro features a 4.5. inch TFT display with 720p resolution and no protective coating on top. The screen also features a 720 X 1280 pixel resolution with a pixel density of 326 ppi.

The screen offers low level of brightness even when you max out the settings so it suffers from poor outdoor visibility, the viewing angles are however quite surprising and accurate.

Overall, the display is decent but the resolution is a bit too much for the hardware at hand, the team at ZTE could of done something more regarding the hardware.

The phone runs the Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.04 version and the experience if the one of an outdated android device but because of the display the OS has a superior feel to it.

Hardware

The phone runs on a MediaTek MT6577T SoC 1.2 GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 CPU with a power VR SGX531.

The phone also features 1 GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Browsing is not perfect but it still feels pretty solid thanks to the fact that the MediaTek chipset runs smooth once you access the browser.

The phone supports 4G connectivity, mp3, video and radio and I bet that you will not miss anything if you decide to purchase the ZTE Grand X Pro.

The main camera on the Grand X Pro is a 8 megapixel unit with autofocus and LED flash, unfortunately if you try to compare it with higher-end Samsung device cameras, you will be disappointed, the amount of detail is not bad but photos still have a large amount of noise.

The handset is not a bad choice, it has quite uniform features and it has just about everything but unless ZTE decides to change the price, this smartphone will quickly fade into oblivion.
