How to Add Google Analytics to Blogger

Google analytics is a service from Google that lets website owners to track the website traffic and visitors details. Google analytics will give you a detailed statistics of keywords used to find your blog in search as well as other important details that may help you to improve your site.

Adding Google analytics to blogger is quite easy if you follow the steps I will be highlighting below.

  • Get a Google analytics account, to create to do this you will need a Gmail account. If you have one, go to http://google.com/analytics
  • Click on the “add website profile” link after logging into your analytics dashboard.
  • Enter your blog URL in the box provided.
  • Set Your Country and Time Zone and click continue.
  • Highlight the Google analytics tracking code displayed in the box and ‘COPY‘ it.
  • Sign in to your blogger Dashboard, Navigate to “Template” Tab and click on ‘Edit HTML’.
  • Click on ‘Download Full Template’ to back up your template onto your computer. It’s always a good idea to back up your template before you make any changes.
  • Search for the closing head tag, </head> and add the tracking code right above the closing head tag.
  • Click ‘SAVE Template’ to save the changes.

Go back to Google analytics, click on Check Status or Verify Tracking code to know if your code has been placed correctly. If the tracking code is found, you will get a ‘receiving Data’ Notification.

So, you have successfully added Google Analytics to your blogger blog.
