Twitter as you already know is one of the most popular social networking website on the internet, it has lots of users from all over the world and more people are joining this social networking site daily.

If you are an Internet marketer or blogger, Twitter can be a good source of consistent traffic to your website if properly utilized. I get a descent amount of traffic from twitter to some of my blogs and websites and I will be sharing with you 3 tips that you can implement today if you want to get more traffic from Twitter.

#1       Use a Relevant Username or Handle

Picking a Twitter username is really important, and it is actually the first important decision you may before creating a twitter account (though you can always change it later). You need to select a username that is relevant to your niche, for example, this blogs twitter handle is @techydoor mainly because it is the blogs brand name and it also describes this blog in a way; the “Tech” this shows it has a thing with technology.

So, if you have a blog or business on weight loss, you should be looking for a twitter username with the word “weight loss” in it, e.g. “readyweightloss”.

# 2.     Optimize Your Profile

I have discovered that if you really want more traffic from Twitter, you need to optimize your twitter profile for more traffic. I have discovered that some people don’t even add their website link to their Twitter profile, and this should not be so. There are going to be lots of people that will check out your profile and they will end up on your site via your profile.

You should write a short descriptive bio for you twitter profile, with your keywords in it, but don’t make it unreadable and mainly for promotion.

# 3.     Mingle With People in Your Niche

As you know, Twitter is a social networking site, and a social networking site according to my understanding is a place to socialize, connect and network with like-minded people. Therefore, if you want traffic from twitter, you should not just have a twitter username but rather, you should follow, communicate, and tweet other people on twitter who have the same interest as you.

The best way to do this is to make a search on twitter with keywords in your niche and connect with people that have a link with these keywords. Retweet other people’s Tweet and they may eventually retweet your tweets too and thus help you get more traffic.

  1. their are three tips->
    1. Tweet about new posts to your blog

Whenever you post something new to your blog or website you should Tweet about it. For me this results in instant traffic to my website.
    2. Use great titles to get more clicks

Having a great title will result in more of your followers clicking on your link.

One of the simplest ways to make a good title is to have it start with a number. For example:
    3 Ways To…
    5 Reasons Why…
    7 Strategies For…

Numbered headlines get your attention and give you a preview of the content.

It is also a good idea to have your title promise to solve a problem that the reader has. If it promises real benefit to the reader they are far more likely to click on the link.

For example the title of this blog post promised to show you how to get traffic to your website using twitter. Getting traffic to your website is a difficult task and a common problem that people have. The title promise real value.

Putting these two concepts together (using numbered headlines and solving readers problems) you can create great titles that will get more clicks on twitter.
    3. Only tweet about things of value

We live in a age of information overload and one of the ways of coping with this is to ignore stuff. In fact we ignore most of the information out there.

So if you don’t want your tweets should be ignored by your followers and make sure they have real value.

And don’t try to sell something via twitter. A lot of people have lost their followers because they tried to make a quick buck.

Remember that people follow you because of the value you provide to them. The minute you stop doing this is the minute that you lose followers.

  2. Hi Joseph,

Thanks for all the words of wisdom you give. I consider you one of my best teachers. I just learned about how to use hashtags and started implementing them where applicable in my Tweets. Now, when other Twitters search for niche material they can find me, and I can find them. Hashtags, what a great tool!

    Kindest regards,
